Summer SEL Parent Forum Series for SUSD Parents and Guardians
Message from SUSD Educational Services Parent Forum Series
We are so grateful for our parent community in SUSD. You have partnered with us for distance learning, and collectively, we have been successful in supporting all our students! We know it hasn’t been easy! Balancing parenting and teaching has been stressful for many. Sheltering-in and not having our usual avenues for social interactions, sports, and other activities has taken its toll mentally and physically!
At our year-end meeting of SUSD’s Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Advisory Committee, comprised of parents, teachers, and administrators, we decided to offer a parent forum series to provide a space to come together, exchange ideas, explore ways to decrease stress, and improve our own and our children’s overall health and well-being.
This 3-part series, facilitated by Wendy Baron, educator and leader in the field of social and emotional learning and stress management, will include topics such as:
Research: The stress response
Emotion regulation and stress reduction practices
A healthy mind platter: The big 7
Tips for establishing summer structures and routines
Sharing resources and exchanging ideas
Addressing issues such as limiting screen time, balance, and Zoom fatigue
