California School Dashboard

Dear SUSD Parents/Guardians:

California is field testing a new website designed to help communities across the state access important information about districts and schools. The California School Dashboard features easy-to-read reports on multiple measures of student success, including test scores, graduation rates, English learner progress and suspension rates. The Dashboard is part of California's new school accountability system and replaces the Academic Performance Index (API).

Past accountability systems for districts and schools relied solely on test scores, which didn’t provide a complete picture of all the ways schools are helping students succeed. The new Dashboard’s multiple indicators give a fuller picture of students’ progress and growth over time.

The Dashboard will provide our district with data to help us make the best decisions about the education of our students. SUSD’s overall performance on four state indicators (suspension, English learner progress, and student performance in English Language Arts, and Mathematics) shows that most of our students are performing at the highest level. The Dashboard also reveals that some of our students are in need of targeted academic assistance. This information will help our community and educators improve learning conditions for all students.

On March 15th at 10:30 a.m., the California School Dashboard website ( will open. This video link provides a concise overview of California’s new accountability system:

We’re pleased to be able to share that Saratoga students are learning and achieving at a high level. We thank our educators and parents for partnering to ensure success for every student.
