School Transfer Within SUSD or to High School
This page outlines transfer information for current SUSD students transferring within the School District. For information for out of district transfers either into or out of SUSD, visit the Interdistrict Transfer page.
Current Transitional Kindergartners
Students enrolled in SUSD Transitional Kindergarten will receive a Kindergarten Request form in early spring. You will not need to re-register however your form is due during the First Registration Period. Request for schools are handled equally with new Kindergartners registering during the first registration period.
Current Students in Grades K-4
In early spring, families with students already attending one of our elementary schools and requesting a different K-5 school for the next academic school year should turn in a the Request to Change Elementary School Form by the due date listed on the form. The form is posted in January for the next school year on the Enrollment webpage.
Current Grade 5 Students Transferring to Redwood Middle School
5th graders automatically transfer to Redwood Middle School. RMS Visitation Day, New 6th Grade Parent Orientation, and Open House will be held during springtime. Watch your eNews for dates and announcements. Middle School Guidance Counselors will also meet with 5th graders in late spring to go over electives and welcome them to Redwood!
Current Grade 8 Students Transferring to High School
The Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District (grades 9-12) is a separate district from Saratoga USD (grades K-8). During the 8th grade school year, 8th grade families will be notified via eNews announcements of the registration process for the high school district. Saratoga High School Guidance Counselors will also meet with 8th graders in springtime to welcome them, go over the registration process, curriculum, and electives. Typically, Redwood Middle School students living within the district boundaries will move onto Saratoga High School. If intradistrict transfers to Los Gatos High School are available LGSUHSD will notify families via eNews about how and when to apply.
