Message from Principal Joe Bosco

  • We are gearing up to welcome you all to Argonaut for the 2023-2024 school year.  For those of you new to our school, I am excited to meet you and get to know you. My name is Joe Bosco and I am honored to be the Principal of this amazing school. Argonaut is a caring and welcoming school and I look forward to all that we will accomplish this school year.   Please reach out to me if you have questions or need assistance.  You can email me, call, or stop by the office.  My email is Jbosco@saratogausd.org, phone number is 408-867-4773x193.

There has been a lot happening around our campus since we ended school last June.  I would like to formally welcome our new staff members.  Joining our staff is Laurel Larraux, who will be teaching 4th grade, and Aaron Reisman, who will be teaching 5th grade.  We also have Megan Queen returning to transitional kindergarten (TK).   Jeana Lim will be joining us as our aide in Makerspace.  Finally, Kim Huebner will be returning to join our 3rd grade team.  We are lucky to have such a diverse and talented staff.

The Argonaut staff is dedicated to making sure that our students are supported in the area of social/emotional growth, by using programs such as Project Cornerstone and Toolbox.  Project Cornerstone is a research-based collection of activities and programs designed to address the social/emotional needs of students, and is based on the idea that there are 41 developmental assets that are essential to student success.   In addition, we will continue to utilize a social emotional learning program called Toolbox.  Our community will learn about the tools throughout the year and use them to help us regulate ourselves when needed.

In the area of academics, we look to continue to expose our students to innovative learning opportunities.  Our staff works collaboratively across the district to ensure our students get the most.  We use assessments and observations to ensure our students are making growth.  Our mission is to provide students with opportunities to be creative in the way they approach problem solving.  Thanks to our district resources,  our amazing PTA, and SEF, we all work together to ensure a well rounded education for our students and strengthen our community.

Our facilities department has been hard at work beautifying our campus this summer.  Our new roof will keep our students dry and safe from all the outside elements.  We have also done a makeover on our front office and some of the classrooms.   A huge thank you to the SUSD Board of Education, Ken Geisick, Jean Aldrete, Joe Martinez, Jose Rodriguez, Luis Ayala, and Humberto Rodriguez for all their hard work and support getting our campus ready for the upcoming school year.

I hope you and your family enjoy these last few days of summer break.  While you do, our staff will be using this time to learn about ways we can help students improve literacy and teach our students more effectively.  Teachers and staff have been planning and organizing so that we will be ready on the first day of school.  It is amazing to see our teachers and staff working together to learn effective strategies to ensure we are ready to inspire our students.

I am so excited about the year ahead and all that we will accomplish as a school community.  I hope you all have an amazing school year at Argonaut.

    Sincerely,

    Joseph Bosco

    Principal
