Student Placement for the 2010-11 School Year Unfortunately, Redwood Middle School cannot take requests for particular teachers or teams due to the following: scheduling constraints; electives (especially single classes such as Band); and the number (948) of students who need to be scheduled. To insure consistency, students will be placed electronically in their classes. All classes in 6th Grade Math, Pre Algebra and Algebra are heterogeneously grouped. Teachers work to support a wide range of learners. Please see the REDWOOD MATH PAGE on the SUSD website for detailed information regarding the middle school math curriculum, course descriptions, and placement protocol. 8th Grade math for 2009-2010 will include Algebra Readiness, Algebra 1 and Geometry. As a reminder, students must complete Redwood’s Algebra 1 class before they can take Geometry. If you have further questions, please contact your child’s academic counselor.
