Redwood PTA Parent Education

Heather Zadel at The Saint Andrew’s Community has generously  invited Redwood parents  to attend a parenting education on Thursday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the Center.

The topic:   Dr. Lucinda Katz will be speaking on:  Respecting diversity in the classroom
Dr. Lee Katz, Head of School at Marin Country Day School, will address the family's and school's role in helping children navigate issues of diversity and building community in a multicultural world. Using stories from her own past, she will illustrate complex aspects of local and global identity and the importance of race, gender and class, and explore avenues for integrating these often-misunderstood topics into the school's curriculum. Dr. Lucinda Katz is a leader in education and multi-cultural and bilingual education. Since 1990 she has been the Director of the acclaimed University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in Hyde Park. Lucinda grew up in San Francisco, in a Chinese household. They spoke Cantonese at home and she studied in a Chinese school. She began her career in education as a bilingual teacher in San Francisco, back when bilingual education was not available.

The Redwood PTA would like to express our appreciation to the Saint Andrew's school community for generously inviting our parents to attend this event free of charge.
