November 4-December 16
The Redwood food drive is back! Redwood is once again partnering with the Foothill Club for seniors in Saratoga and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara County to do our part to help make sure that no one in our community goes hungry. Did you know that 1 in 10 people in the Santa Clara and San Mateo County area receive food from the food bank each month? Together we can make a difference to help people in need during this holiday season.
This year the drive will run from Nov. 4 through Dec.16. We are asking students to bring their non-perishable food donations directly to their 1st period classes.
Walk a mile in my shoe. See what I see. Hear what I hear. Feel what I feel. Then maybe, you’ll understand why I do what I do. Till then, don’t judge me.
This year’s school climate focus is helping students feel empathetic and compassion for others. This year’s Unity in Community will revolve around empathy as it relates to diversity. In addition, the leadership class’s lunchtime activities and special events will dovetail with this theme.
Beginning November 1, Redwood launched a shoe drive for bay area foster children where they can volunteer to purchase new shoes for foster children, donate money to the shoe drive, or, purchase a sneaker key chain with the proceeds going to the shoe drive. Any student who donates money or shoes will receive a free key-chain. The shoe drive will take place from November 1 through December 16, 2013.
Only new shoes or money will be accepted as a donation. Students can donate any size shoe that would fit another student, K-12. We will be working with the Sleep Train organization to make sure local foster children benefit from our efforts. Redwoods goal is 500 new pairs of shoes!
We hope you will join us to support our local foster children! Thank you!
