Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year.  I am excited about the upcoming school year.  I look forward to continuing the excellence that has been put in place at Foothill Elementary School.

Along with me there are some other new faces on the Foothill staff.  I would like to welcome Sheila Chako who will be teaching 2nd grade this year in Room 12.  Ms. Chako will be joining us from Argonaut.  I would also like to welcome Julie Paolini who will be working with grades K through 2 in Room 7. Julie will be joining us from Saratoga Elementary School.  Two other new additions to welcome are Laurie Brandt and Mardi Kambish.  Ms. Brandt will be our Literacy Coach and Ms. Kambish will work with our students and staff as our District Math Coach.  These teachers bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience from which our students will benefit greatly.

As for me, I come to Foothill from Saratoga High School where I was the Assistant Principal for the last four years.  I am originally from Michigan where I went to school and completed my Bachelors degree with a major of Elementary Education at Western Michigan University.  During my childhood my family would make the trek from Michigan to California every summer.  Our summers were spent in Boulder Creek where my grandfather built a cabin almost 100 years ago.  During these summers in Boulder Creek I fell in love with the area and never gave up the dream of moving to California permanently.  Ten years ago the dream became a reality when I moved to Sunnyvale, CA.  There I taught Algebra and Pre-Algebra at Columbia Middle School.  While at Columbia I decided to pursue my Masters degree in Educational Administration.  After completing my degree I was awarded the job as the Assistant Principal at Sunnyvale Middle School.  After Sunnyvale I came to the High School district where I built strong ties to the Saratoga Community.  I am delighted to be back in the elementary school district where I began my career.  I feel my experiences along the way have prepared me to support students as they learn and grow.

I am eager to meet all of the students and their families of Foothill.  We as a staff have been preparing for a fun and engaging school year.

Sincerely,

Joe Bosco
