Argonaut Elementary School has served the community of Saratoga, California for over 40 years. One tradition that Argonaut has proudly maintained is to produce achieving students who have become successful, contributing adults. We serve 520 students in twenty-three self-contained K-5 classrooms plus a Resource Specialist Room. Argonaut also houses two Santa Clara County Special Education classes, preschool and K-2. A dedicated staff enjoys the challenge of working at a school like Argonaut with its diverse and talented student body, involved community, and commitment to excellence in education. The students are bright, inquisitive, and creative. Approximately 66% of the students are Asian, 24% white, and 9% other. The volunteer program at Argonaut School is very extensive. Parents work as volunteers in the classroom, office, and library, as well as, on schoolwide programs. We have the following programs organized by volunteers: Art Docents, Math Docents, Variety Show, Musical, Authors' Expo, Science Faire, Math Fun Day, Read-In, PTA Reflections, Red Ribbon Week, Fit Kidz Program, Yearbook, Birthday Table, Boxtops for Education, Family Fun Night, Attendance Assurance, Community Service projects, International Day and special assemblies. Parents also drive on field trips and present special lessons sharing their background, interest, or career expertise. Volunteer time exceeded 25,000 hours during the 2004-05 school year. Our vision for Argonaut School is that all students will be challenged to develop their potential and will demonstrate academic, social, and personal growth. Our mission is to provide an enriched academic program in a positive environment that empowers all students to think critically, to interact cooperatively, to learn to their fullest potential, and to become responsible contributors to society.
