About Our District

  • City of Saratoga established in 1856; School District established in 1865.
  • Located in Santa Clara County in the heart of Silicon Valley with close proximity to the U.S. 101, Interstate 880 and 280, and State Route 85 Freeway.
  • Encompasses 8 square miles of territory, including about 2/3 of the city of Saratoga and small portions of the cities of Monte Serreno and Los Gatos, as well as a portion of unincorporated Santa Clara County.
  • District's location provides easy access to employment opportunities throughout the greater Bay Area in the fields of high technology, bio-medicine, higher education, and others.
  • Estimated 1995 city of Saratoga housing stock consisted of 9,825 single family units and 633 multiple family units. 1995 housing vacancy rate was 2.57%.
  • District assessed valuation grew 9.375% from 1996-97 - to FY 1997-98; during the California real estate recession, the lowest rate of annual assessed valuation increase in the district was 4.276 (From FY 1993-94 to FY 1994-95).
  • Almost 98% of District's 1997-98 assessed valuation is in Developed property and is a in developed residential property. Community enjoys an extremely low debt burden for its level of assessed valuation.
  • District serves students in grades K through 8 and presently operates three K-5 elementary schools and one 6-8 Middle School.
