1.  On June 23, 2009, the Saratoga Union School District adopted the district budget for the 2009-2010 school year. 

• the total budget is:  $23,497,641
• total revenue is projected to be: $22,756,528
• projected budget reserve for 2009-2010 is: $2,340,511
• 2008-2009 projected ending balance is:  $1,223,581
• 2009-2010 projected ending balance is: $482,468
• total 2009-2010 projected enrollment is:  2,188

2.  The 2009-2010 district budget does not take into account any basic aid school district "fair share" reduction from the state.  The state has not taken action on budget measures for the 2009-2010 school year and we are awaiting details on any reductions to our budget.  We plan on using our budget reserve to support our current plans for 2009-2010 school year.

3.  We plan to move into the next year without significant changes or reductions in service.  We recognize that the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school year pose major financial challenges to us. 

4.  A district budget advisory committee will be formed at the beginning of the school year.  This committee will develop recommendations to the board on how to strategically plan and prioritize district spending for the next three years.

5.  Superintendent Lane Weiss will be working with principals, employee bargaining groups, the Saratoga Education Foundation, each school's P.T.A., School Site Councils, Music and Sports Boosters, the Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation Department, the City of Saratoga, and district office staff to facilitate a "systems approach" to supporting the delivery of three dimensional success.
